The Rewired.Earth privacy policy

Data is at the heart of rewired.earth’s mission and our core values of trust, openness and individual control run through everything we do.  This privacy policy sets out how we handle any personal information we collect and use as part of our mission. Please refer back to this document for the latest information and contact us if you have any questions.  


Who we are and our contact details.
Rewired.earth CIC (“we”, “us”, our” “rewired.earth”) is responsible for the personal information we collect (this means that we are a “controller” for this information under applicable data privacy laws).

What type of information we collect  
•  Name and contact information - We collect basic contact information such as name, company name, email address and phone number for individual and organisation contact points who are interested in helping us or that we think can play a part in helping achieve our aims. 
•  Views and opinions – We collect your views and opinions on environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters and your preferences.  
•  Use of our websites and products – We collect information about your use of our websites and products. 


How we get the information and why we have it 
We collect the information directly from you via your use of our websites and products.  We may also get names and contact information for interested people from our supporters and from publicly available sources (such as internet searches and organisation websites). 


We need to collect and hold the personal data to achieve our aim of creating a mechanism that allows investors, consumers, employees and citizens to make informed decisions based on transparent, easy-to-interpret, reliable, and comparable information about environmental, social and/or governance (ESG) impact. 


We will use your views and opinions on ESG matters to create aggregate insights and share these with relevant organisations.  You may choose to share your individual-level views and opinions directly with other organisations and publicly on social media (where available).  These activities raise awareness of ESG issues and allow organisations to respond to individual and collective demand on ESG matters.   


You control who we share your individual-level views and opinions with and so our legal basis for sharing this personal information is your consent.  All other uses of personal information necessary for achieving our aim is our legitimate interest or as necessary to comply with a legal obligation.   


What we do with the information  
We will use the information to operate and grow rewired.earth, including to: 
•  Communicate with you 
•  Provide our websites and products, including at your direction, sharing your ESG views and opinions with others 
•  Create aggregated and de-identified information about ESG demand data and make this available to others 
•  Improve and develop our websites and products and create new solutions in pursuit of our aim 
•  Comply with our legal obligations and establish, exercise and defend our rights 


How we store your information 
We store personal information on servers provided by well-known cloud service providers.  As a global organisation, the information may be stored and/or accessed from territories outside of the one where you are located.  We comply with legal requirements regarding international transfers of personal information. 


We intend to keep personal information for as long as we have an ongoing relationship with you and plan to review contact information after 24 months of no interaction.   


Your data protection rights 
Under data privacy laws, you have rights including: 
Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.  


Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.  
Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.  


Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.  
Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances. 


Your right to stop receiving marketing - If you ask us to stop contacting you, we stop contacting you and will delete your personal information from our contact database with the exception of the information that needs to be stored in our “do not contact list” to ensure that we do not contact you in future (unless you change your mind) and to evidence that we have appropriately dealt with your request. 


You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you unless it is a complex request in which case we will let you know we need longer.

How to complain 
We hope you never want to complain, but if you do have a complaint, please let us know so we can make every effort to try to resolve the issue.  If you are unhappy with how we have handled your complaint or used your data you can also complain to the ICO.  The ICO’s address:
